Red Lion Books is delighted to be hosting an evening of adventure, humour and stories with acclaimed travel writer Ben Aitken (A Chip Shop in Poznan, Dear Bill Bryson, The Gran Tour) as he talks about his latest book, The Marmalade Diaries.
What does a travel writer do when a global pandemic hits, they find fascinating discoveries closer to home. For Ben, it literally was home as he went in search for a room in London and ended up with a friend for life, Winnie, an 85 year-old widow who does not suffer fools gladly, let alone a working-class millennial snowflake (Ben’s words, not ours!)
‘Charming, touching and very very funny’ Jenny Colgan
‘Simply too good’ Daily Mail
Joining Ben on the night is local author Mark Russell whose passion for walking has led to a series of treks, including tracing the coastline of Essex.
They will both be in conversation with former Arts Editor of the Essex County Standard, Neil D’Arcy-Jones.
Ticket price includes a hard copy of Ben’s new book plus a small pot of marmalade from Wilkin and Sons.
